SCOTT L'ESPERANCE
SCOTT L'ESPERANCE | JUNIOR DESIGNER
Scott has always been drawn to the design and decision-making that drives the creation of the built environment and its relation to the natural world. Raised in the Midwest, he attended high school in Colorado, where his love for nature blossomed.
Attracted to the climatic and cultural richness of the Golden State, Scott elected to pursue his Bachelor of Architecture at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. During this time in school, he strengthened his knowledge of international design theory and history through studying abroad in Italy, earning his minor in Italian Studies. His studio work was recognized by peers, faculty, and in a national design competition. Internships in Colorado with a residential firm and a general contractor provided Scott with an introduction to the industry, and an internship with Valerio Dewalt Train exposed him to designing with the clients and preferences of the Bay Area in mind.
After graduating, Scott joined jmA in 2021, where he actively assists in the design and documentation of the firms’ site-focused projects. Outside the office, he enjoys traversing the city on foot from his Nob Hill apartment, as well as venturing into natural settings: beaches, mountains, and forests alike.
